Julie Hocking is an Australian artist living on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, South Eastern Australia.

 

After a background in art education and a career in designing and manufacturing fashion knitwear, Julie has returned to her passion of painting.

 

Inspired by her natural surroundings and working mostly with oil paint her work is contemporary in style, expressive, painterly and textural. Often painting from life and en plein air she seeks to capture the mood and atmosphere of the natural landscape through thoughtful mark making, thick paint and bold use of colour. Light, shadows, movement and colour are ever paramount in her work.
